Manchester United target Memphis Depay has revealed he is open to leaving PSV this summer if he received the right offer from a big club.

Depay, 20, who scored two goals in four matches under Louis van Gaal for the Netherlands at the World Cup, has been linked with both United and Tottenham since the tournament this summer.

Speaking to the Sun, Depay said a move abroad was a possibility, leaving the door open for Van Gaal or any other club to make a move for him.

“I did my time at PSV but if nice clubs from big leagues ask, of course I will think about it,” he said.

“There is lots of interest but it is an easy option to stay. I understand that fans want me to play well this season in Eindhoven, but ultimately I’m the one who decides how my career will look and no one else.”

The speedy winger was first linked with a move to Old Trafford back in May when he wasreported to have told his agent he was interested in a move. Since then, his name has regularly appeared in reports as someone who Van Gaal would be interested in bringing in.

In response to reports, PSV boss Philip Cocu advised the player against a move away from the Erevidisie, citing the player’s lack of experience and also insisted there had been no contact from United or Tottenham for Depay, who is under contract with PSV until 2017.

However, with Depay clearly considering his options, PSV may struggle to hold onto him if the right offer is made.

Van Gaal admitted recently that he would need more ‘specialist’ players if he were to use a 4-3-3 formation and Depay is a player who has the potential to flourish under the Dutchman as already, at just 20, he has shown fantastic promise.
